The Age Division is determined by the age of the athlete on
December 31st of
the calendar year.
The Savannah Chatham Silver Cheetahs offers athletic activity
all year round,
which provides an after-school and out-of-school activity for
youth. This year
round commitment is one way of keeping children away from
societal problems
of drugs, teen pregnancy, and juvenile crime during after school
hours and during
summer school break.
Other goals of the Savannah Chatham Silver Cheetahs are:
1.
To instill the value of teamwork, sportsmanship, and respect for
others.
2.
To create an atmosphere, which teaches the importance of
self-discipline,
attaining
personal goals, and the importance of preparation and
consistency
in relationship
to success.
3.
To prepare athletes to qualify for the Georgia Games Nationals,
USA State
Games, and AAU Regional and National Junior Olympic Games.
4.
To teach the history of running and field events with up-to-date
technique
and
form.
5.
To create an environment that enables athletes to build
friendships and
enjoy
activities and travel.
6.
To provide travel experiences to meets out of state, which
incorporate
teams and
learning about other places.
7.
To instill the importance of academics by monitoring each
athlete's
progress
through their report cards.
8.
To promote an interest in higher education, athletic
scholarships, and
the
experiences, which both would bring to a young man or woman.
